Activity 2 - Class Ice Breaker

Sometimes students feel awkward about or struggle with new classroom friendships. As they gain a working knowledge of all the alpha keys, have them write short paragraphs on how they got their name, using the questions below. Discuss the results in class and have them create a text file. Combine all the files into one Custom Lesson that the entire group can practice. This is a great way to “break the ice” and promote interpersonal communication.

• Where does it come from?
• What does it mean?
• Are they named after another individual, and if so, whom? Why?
• Was the name popular when they were born?
