Ribbon UI Menu:
This tool draws all basic shapes used in a Flow Chart. Currently, there are 10 shapes available in the local menu, which can be inserted into the drawing. These shapes can also be inverted using the local menu "invert" option.
- Select Basic Shapes
- Select the shape you want to insert and flip if required
- Click in the drawing space to place the shape
Local menu options:
Basic shapes include Rounded Rectangle, Parallelogram, Trapezoid, Triangle, Rhomb, Pentagon, Hexagon, Octagon, and Ellipse.
Flip:
Flips the selected shape to be inserted.
Connector
Default UI Menu: Tools/FlowChart/Connector
Ribbon UI Menu:
Connector tool is used to connect different shapes. There are different types of connectors available in the local menu.
- Select Connector Tool
- Click first object to be connected or specify the start point
- Click second object or specify the end point
Connection is created.
Local menu options:
Straight:
Connects the objects with a straight connector.
Perpendicular90:
Connects objects with a perpendicular at 90 degree connector.
Parallel:
Connects objects with a parallel connector.
Perpendicular270:
Connects objects with a perpendicular at 270 degree connector.
Flip:
Flips the selected connector type.
Smart:
If the smart option is enabled, the type of connector (the direction of the arrows) is determined by the connected segment.
Link:
If the link option is enabled, then a link is created between the connector and the connected object.
Link between Object and Connector:
A connector can create a link to a closed polyline. If the connected object is moved or updated, the connector follows the object.
Double-sided Arrow Connector:
Two points define connectors, and each point can have arrows. This can be changed/specified in the Selection Information Palette properties of the connector.
The connector will be curved if the “Curved” property is checked from the Selection Information Palette options.
Attached Text
Default UI Menu: Tools/FlowChart/Connector
Ribbon UI Menu:
This adds the ability to attach text to any object. The text is attached to the object so that the center of the text is the same as the center of the object. Whenever the object changes, the position of the text also changes.
- Select Attached Text tool
- Click on the object
- Select text to be attached to the selected object
Text is attached.
